Fall clubs and pickup safety plans

We’re finalizing the fall schedule and want your input on which clubs to expand while keeping dismissal smooth and safe. We’re piloting a uniform pickup at Door C with ID check and a late bus at 5:45, and clubs will run 3:30–6:00 Monday–Thursday. What activities would keep your student excited to stay, and any concerns about the new pickup flow?

Robotics/maker with a weekly ‘build challenge’ would keep my kid there, and could we pilot QR scan on student IDs at Door C to speed pickup? The ‘5:45 bus vs 6:00 clubs’ mismatch feels like leaving the movie before the ending — could the bus slide to 6:05, @AfterSchoolTeam?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

Agree with @phil_knight25 on speed, but instead of QR let’s try a 4‑digit pickup PIN tied to the student badge at Door C plus an indoor holding zone as it gets dark. Also add a 5:30–5:55 study hall so the 5:45 bus kids aren’t pulled mid-project and pickup still runs through 6:00. If the bus time can’t shift, a 5:40 bus release and 5:55 pickup window keeps halls clear.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

Debate and a once‑a‑week cooking lab would keep my kid there; on the “uniform pickup,” can we do old‑school carline placards with a family code and a caller at the designated entrance? With the 3:30–6:00 block, build a 5:40 clean‑up window so bus riders roll first and pickups don’t jam, or shift the late bus to the hour if possible, @phil_knight25.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

Chess ladder 3:30–6:00 would hook mine; keep the ‘ID check’ and add a covered queue. @ops_team?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌

A maker lab with rotating build challenges plus a quick homework-and-snack kickoff would keep my kid there with the long afternoon block. On the ‘uniform pickup’ and ‘ID check’, stage students inside by last initial and release in timed waves to the pickup door, with cones and a staffer acting as a crosswalk marshal — , the bottleneck outside turns to chaos once it’s dark. Pilot it one day a week and tweak from there.

Short film club would hook mine; ‘late bus at 5:45’ works. Door C QR check‑in to cue release helps, @mike_stevenson56.
